Mary Harris Trio was superb

This was the first time we tried music for this event and it really added to the evening. Mary Harris and her guitar player had just the right flavor of music for the evening. The sound system, volume were right on the money. They were engaging with the audience. Even had one guy singing along in the mike. We heard nothing but good things from the people attending that evening.

Wonderful Jazz Singer

The Mary Harris Duo provided wonderful jazz music for Olbrich's Rhapsody in Bloom fundraiser. Mary's smooth voice could be heard through out the Rose Garden during the event, creating the perfect ambiance!

BIOGRAPHY

Mary J. Harris sings jazz.  Her no frills approach leaves the song intact.  What she knows about jazz has a lot to do with history. The great American songbook is entrusted to singers who take the time to learn the melody, understand the lyrics and let the song shine through.  In this day of American Idol power vocals, Mary's honest approach stands out.

Mary was born, raised and musically trained in Chicago.  Mary has captured attention at Rockford's Greenwich Village Art fair with her swing band and kept the night owls swinging with her smooth jazz trio at Salvino's Jazz Club.  Mary's musical tastes are served by her Swing band and her latest project, a Gypsy Swing band.  She works dates at local, intimate locations with her Jazz Duo and Trio.  Mary can be heard at numerous area events, large and small, public and private.  Her work also has taken her to Jazz festivals and Summer concert series across the Midwest.

Her musical education began at Lake Forest College, Improvistion at the renowned Piven theater, Acting classes in Chicago and Los Angeles as well as formal vocal studies at the Chicago Musical College.  Her varied and interesting background informs and shapes her true passion...Jazz from within the Great American Songbook.
